Ever wondered what king tides are and how they form?
According to NOAA’s National Ocean Service, a King Tide is a non-scientific term people often use to describe exceptionally high tides. These high tides have been known to cause coastal flooding and can catch people off guard when they occur on especially nice weather days.
These tides are long-period waves that roll around the planet as the planet’s oceans are being influenced by the gravitational pull of the moon and the sun throughout the year. Because of this, these tide can be tracked and monitored.

Because of the King Tides for eastern Florida, coastal advisories have been issued for these areas.
