Severe Weather Threats into the Overnight

A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for portions of Arkansas, Oklahoma, and the Mississippi River Valley. The threats include frequent lightning, large hail, and scattered damaging winds.

Severe Outlook

The Storm Prediction Center continue the risk for severe thunderstorms through the overnight hours through Oklahoma, and into the Mississippi River Valley.

Severe Threats

All modes of severe weather will be in the forecast and that includes the risk for significant hail and damaging winds.

The significant hail threat will continue through tonight as strong storms dive south. This means we may see up to 2″ in diameter hail.

Closer to the center of the low, there is a risk for some rotating storms that may be capable of producing a tornado.

Timing

As we continue through Sunday night, strong to severe thunderstorms will continue to dive south. Our in-house forecast models keep storms holding their strength with the help of the front into the overnight hours too.
