Severe Storms to Rattle Central, South U.S. This Weekend

Residents living within the southern Plains may have their plans cut short Sunday as severe storms rattle the area.

Cities from Houston, Texas to Oklahoma City are at risk for severe thunderstorms Sunday and Sunday night. These storms may contain large hail, damaging wind gusts and tornadoes.

Just last Thursday, severe weather erupted over western Kansas, south-central Nebraska and the Oklahoma/ Texas panhandles. On Friday, severe storms caused damage in Missouri, Arkansas, Louisiana, Texas and Kansas. Some storms produced Ping Pong Ball sized hail near the Wichita, KS area.

A powerful storm system moving out of the Rockies will trigger a round of severe thunderstorms late Sunday. Storms should erupt over central Oklahoma late evening and move east toward Fayetteville, AR and Dallas, TX through the early overnight.

Another area of concern for Sunday exists from Columbus, Ohio south toward Atlanta. These storms may contain strong wind gusts and large hail.

On Monday, severe thunderstorms are expected to develop over the Mississippi Valley. Cities from Little Rock to Memphis are at risk for damaging storms.
