Pacific System Brings Rain & Snow to the Southwest

Wet weather has been moving through the Southwestern sections of the nation to start this week and additional precipitation is ahead over the next 24 hours. More than a foot of snow has already fallen in the higher elevations of California with several inches of rain along the coast.

Forecast

The storm system bringing the soggy and snowy weather will move eastward into the Plains today (Tuesday). Snowfall will continue across the higher elevations in the Wasatch and Rockies through this afternoon. Accumulations will come to an end tonight as moisture and energy pushes out of the region.

Alerts

Winter alerts extend across Utah, Colorado and New Mexico, mainly in the higher elevations of the Wasatch and Rockies.

Amounts

The mountains will see an additional 5″ to 10″ of snow through this evening. The valleys and foothills are forecast to pick up an additional 2″ to 5″.
