The majority of the nation is expected to see warmer than average temperatures as we look into next month. That’s according to the latest 30 day outlook from the Climate Prediction Center covering October. Drier than normal weather is anticipated across most of the southern half of the country from the Pacific Coast to Mississippi Valley. This isn’t good news for the ongoing drought in the West and Plains. Above average precipitation is forecast in Washington.
The Climate Prediction Center notes that La Nina is still present across the Pacific and that the atmosphere and conditions in the tropical Pacific region support those observations. La Nina is expected to continue into early next year.
