Heartbreaking Videos Show Horses Struggling to Stay Above Rising Texas Flood Waters

Historic Flooding in Houston, Texas has claimed the lives of 7 people, more than 1,200 residents of Houston rescued, and approximately 5 billion dollars in damage for the city itself. The Science and Operations Officer of the National Weather Service office in Houston, Meteorologist Lance Wood, has said he hasn’t seen flooding this bad since Tropical Storm Allison in the year 2001.

Flooding began overnight Sunday and into Monday morning and increased to historic levels on Tuesday. Amid the heavy rainfall, the city of Houston was shut down for several days as office buildings, homes, and government offices became consumed by rising flood waters.

While some parts of Houston are improving, the northwestern side of Houston is still experiencing flooding and it shows no signs of letting up. This is all due to Cypress Creek near Westfield, TX and also Cypress Creek near Cypress, TX.

Both rivers are expected to crest by later today, possibly early Thursday. The crests will be near record breaking levels.

The only insult to injury component at this point is the fact that more rain is in the forecast which could prolong any relief for the northwestern side of Houston, TX.
