A dramatic Coast Guard rescue of a grandmother, 88, and her grandchildren in South Carolina. The crew aboard an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter from Coast Guard Air Station Elizabeth City, North Carolina, was conducting a flight in support of flood response efforts over portions of South Carolina. That’s when a crew member aboard the chopper spotted the three people waving their arms, standing in a field. The grandmother’s home was surrounded by flood water, so the decision was made to transport the group to safety. The crew landed and picked up all three, transporting them to Robert F. Swinnie Airport in Andrews, where they were met by family. The woman and her grandchildren did not suffer any injuries.
