Could Rain Wash out Game 1 of the American League Championship Series?

Baseball fans, you might want to prepare for the possibility of a postponed Game 1 of the American League Championship Series on Friday night, or at the very least, a rain-delayed or rain-shortened contest between the Orioles and Royals at Camden Yards in Baltimore.

Rain looks likely for Game 1 of the ALCS on Friday, with the best chance of rain comes later in the game as the bulk of the moisture moves in from the southwest. Unfortunately, the worst of the rain looks right in the heart of the game, and it could be heavy at times. In fact, rain looks likely as early as Friday morning. Here’s a look at the simulated radar (HRRR) for Friday morning, showing rain in the Beltway, including Baltimore:

An area of low pressure riding a cold front looks poised to move into the Mid-Atlantic just in time for the start of Friday’s 8:07 p.m. first pitch in downtown Baltimore.

The rain should clear by 9 a.m. on Saturday, leaving Game 2 — which has a 4:00 p.m. start on Saturday — in decent shape. Game 3 in Kansas City, meanwhile, could be in jeopardy with a departing area of low pressure on Monday evening.
