Billion Dollar Disasters: Learning from the Past, Preparing for the Future

We saw 18 billion dollar disasters in 2022, including 3 hurricane events (Ian, Nicole and Fiona) causing over $165 Billion dollars in damage. At WeatherNation, we are part of NOAA’s Weather Ready Nation and want to help you prepare, before the next storm. This week we are taking a look back at the 2022 Weather Year and looking forward to how we can best prepare for Mother Nature going forward. We spoke to multiple relief organization that are on the ground before, during and after disasters on what they experience with survivors of natural disasters. Murrow award winning team for breaking news for their coverage of the EF-4 tornado in Washington, Illinois. In her free time, Karissa enjoys cooking and trying new foods. She is a self proclaimed 'TV Junkie' who can get into just about any show. She is a die hard Chicago sports fan who loves attending professional sporting events.
