August through October Outlook Remains Warm

28 Jul 2022, 1:30 am

The summer has had it’s fair share of heat and it looks like that trend will continue for the next few months into the start of fall. That’s according to the Climate Prediction Center’s latest seasonal outlook covering August, September and October. The next 90 days are expected to see warmer than normal temperatures for almost all of the lower 48 states.

The East Coast is expected to see above normal rainfall. Drier than normal weather is in the forecast through most of the intermountain West, the Great Plains and western Great Lakes. This will likely lead to an expansion and continuation of drought conditions in the West and Plains.

The seasonal outlook reflects the latest model guidance, current La Nina conditions, sea surface temperatures and decadal trends. You can read more on the details of the outlook at this link.
